Mobility 3.0
While the car was once a status symbol (Fig. 1) and thus the only way to be truly independently mobile, ICT is creating new and additional use cases. The business model “automobile” is being redefined as a result.

The automobile can hardly be replaced—especially in urban and suburban areas—but its role is changing massively. Efficient transportation through individual connectivity, personalized, independent, and unrestricted mobility for everyone. Overall more cost-effective and environmentally friendly: This could be defined as the goal. The car becomes a “highly intelligent” participant in the mix of different mobility carriers, interacting with everyone and everything through ICT. (Fig. 2)
