AUDIO MOBIL wins Best Business Award
The Best Business Awards ceremony took place on November 11. AUDIO MOBIL is pleased to have won first place this year in the category for companies with up to 30 employees.
This is the second time that the Ranshofen-based company has won the coveted award. The automotive supplier already convinced the 20-member jury in 2008.

Innviertel Business Award
On Tuesday, April 13, 2021, AUDIO MOBIL was honored by prominent business representatives as part of the “Innviertel Business Award” in the category of 10-49 employees.
The award is presented to companies that represent a signal effect for the entire Innviertel region, provide special economic impulses, are regionally anchored, and secure and create jobs with pioneering innovations.
“I am extremely pleased that we have been recognized so prominently. It is an impulse for everyone who works with us, especially the region. That is why we are naturally delighted,” says Thomas Stottan.
EPIC prototype vehicle
Exclusive Personal Interaction Car – or as it is called at AUDIO MOBIL for short, “EPIC” – is AUDIO MOBIL’s second prototype vehicle. The basis is a Rolls Royce Ghost. The vehicle showcases technical advancements in rear-seat entertainment, the personal audio system, and Active Zone Separation®. Driver-vehicle communication features are also integrated and made tangible in the vehicle by our innovative developers.

Jury member "Golden Steering Wheel" (Springer Verlag)
CEO Thomas Stottan’s decades of experience in vehicle networking and HMI usability is widely recognized. In 2017, Springer Verlag approached AUDIO MOBIL and nominated CEO Stottan to the HMI testing team for the Golden Steering Wheel. This largest vehicle test in Germany – conducted by AutoBild – is often used as a benchmark by the world’s leading vehicle manufacturers.
Development of HMI test procedure / benchmark test
The next logical step in the field of human-machine interfaces. Modern vehicles are becoming increasingly complex. Can humans still keep up, or do the technical features and input options exceed the neuronal horizon? In 2016, AUDIO MOBIL developed a test procedure for human-machine interfaces, with which input options in vehicles can be reproducibly tested and scientifically evaluated on a predefined test route. Because technology is only as good as its operation.

Conceptualization of DiMoReg – Digital Mobility Region
The future of mobility presents us all with numerous challenges. A core issue will certainly be the acceptance of technical influences. The interaction between autonomously moving vehicles and pedestrians or other road users will also bring many changes. Will humans also accept surrendering to technology and being transported to their desired destination in a pure people mover? AUDIO MOBIL attempted to address all these challenges as part of DiMoReg – the digital mobility region. DiMoReg is a concept for a real-world test environment in suburban areas for partially and fully automated vehicles, in which automobile manufacturers and suppliers, as well as transport operators, can test the technical framework conditions in real-world operation.

Ergonomics Interaction Communication – EIC for short – enables topics such as iCS, nearfield audio, three operating environments, and HMI aspects to be evaluated in real-world operation and tested by interested parties.

Development of personal audio system
Another innovation from AUDIO MOBIL. The personal audio system involves the implementation of individual audio zones in a vehicle. Completely independent of each other, each passenger has an active headrest with speakers. These are controlled by amplifier electronics that enable each headrest to reproduce acoustic signals individually. Complementary applications include separate voice control for each seat in the vehicle and personalized information such as navigation information for the driver and simultaneous phone calls for the passenger. The arrangement of the speakers results in a significant improvement in intelligibility and thus increased confidence in acoustic interaction.
Publication of operating concept "iCS"
In collaboration with the University of Salzburg and steering wheel manufacturer Takata (now Joyson Safety Systems), a completely new HMI operating system was created that consolidates all relevant information from the dashboard and center console in the steering wheel. Completely intuitive and usable without prior knowledge – a milestone in simplifying vehicle operation.

Lateral Thinker Award
Different and ahead of its time. AUDIO MOBIL was recognized as a visionary with the Lateral Thinker Award. “Anyone who works with AUDIO MOBIL knows that nowhere are visions turned into reality as quickly as with us,” says CEO Thomas Stottan.
Founding of AMV Networks
As early as 2007, the findings from vehicle networking were consolidated in the xFCD project (extended floating car data) AMV. This resulted in a rapidly expanding business division with real-time data management, which culminated in the spin-off of AMV Networks GmbH.

HMI laboratory
Through collaboration with the University of Salzburg, CEO Stottan initiated a deepening of scientific research into HMI (Human-Machine Interaction). The Christian Doppler Research Association was found as a renowned funding partner.
New company building
In addition to a newly designed facility with optimized pathways between laboratories, test facilities, and production, a hermetically sealed test track was built that meets the confidentiality requirements of OEMs. In addition, ISO TS 16949 was introduced.

Production
The activity as an R&D service provider was expanded to include small-series production. Short development cycles and highly flexible production processes became the benchmark in the automotive industry.
Ranshofen
Increased confidentiality requirements necessitated relocation from Salzburg to the discreetly located Ranshofen. In addition to proximity to a training center for engineers in computer science, communications engineering, and mechatronics, the central location in Europe was utilized.

Research activities
Technology carriers were developed for OEM R&D departments. The findings from the projects “Transmission paths for automobiles” and “Dialog-capable haptic control element” still form the basis today for integrated radio systems and “tangible” operating concepts.
OEM supplier
Just over four years after its founding, AUDIO MOBIL was listed for the first time as an OEM supplier by BMW AG. For the BMW sound module, the company assumed complete development responsibility for the electronics concept for a total of 18 model series.

D-network telephone integrations with the then-emerging notebooks were implemented on behalf of customers. This made a connected car application possible in real-world operation for the first time. This resulted in customer contacts with the OEM development offices.
Founding
On March 3, 1989, Thomas Stottan founded AUDIO MOBIL in Salzburg. In addition to high-end audio systems, C-network telephones including fax machines were already installed under automotive requirements as a contract partner of the Austrian Post – thus a precursor to the connected vehicle.
